The program defines a start-up applicant as an initiative that is either in the idea phase, has a prototype awaiting commercialization, or is currently in the testing phase with a user base. The initiative might not have registered yet.
The initiative should be in the agri digi-tech sector, leveraging digital technology to enhance agricultural efficiency, productivity, logistics, value chain and sustainability.
The principal founder of the initiative must be a Nepali citizen, whereas co-founders can include non-Nepali nationals.
The initiative must have more than one founding member.
The initiative must have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or Minimum Desirable Product (MDP).
A working model or prototype should be developed to a certain extent (e.g., mobile app, functional prototype)
The initiative must have conducted some transactions or demonstrated traction (e.g., user base, revenue).
The founding team members of the initiative should be 18 years or above. The initiative should have a committed and skilled team with relevant expertise in digital technology and business development with access to expertise in agriculture sector.
As per the SDC PSE Handbook, businesses from the following sectors, namely; precious gemstones, cotton goods, weapons, armaments, munitions, and their components and alcoholic beverages are not eligible for application.
What type of initiatives are eligible to apply?
Any initiative that is at ideation phase, which may not be registered yet, has a product or service, and which focuses on agri digi-tech are eligible for the participation.
2. What does agri digi-tech company/initiative mean?
We are looking for a Nepali agri digi-tech companies, agri-tech SMEs, strategic business units (SBUs) embedded within large conglomerates or start-ups that leverage digital technology and innovation to enhance agricultural efficiency, productivity, logistics, value chain and sustainability. This also covers advisory platforms, agri-insurance, e-marketplace, financing, warehousing, transportation and others.
3. Are there any specific age requirements to be eligible for participation in the program?
The minimum age of the founders of the company should be at least 18 years and above, and the principal founder of the initiative must be a Nepali citizen, whereas co-founders can include non-Nepali nationals.
4. How long is the program?
The program is divided into two phases:
Phase 1 : Selected companies will undergo a four-month acceleration program.
Phase 2 : Shortlisted companies after phase 1 would get additional mentoring while one company has the potential to receive investment.
5. Does the initiative need to be registered?
If selected, the initiative should be registered by the end of acceleration phase/before pitching for investment.
6. Do I need to disclose the number of users/customers we have worked with?
Yes, the company is expected to share such details for the evaluation purpose.
7. Do I need to share company’s participation in any start-up program in the past?
