The program defines a start-up applicant as an initiative that is either in the idea phase, has a prototype awaiting commercialization, or is currently in the testing phase with a user base. The initiative might not have registered yet.
The business should be in the agri digi-tech sector, leveraging digital technology to enhance agricultural efficiency, productivity, logistics, value chain and sustainability.
The company must have a proven experience of commercially developing and testing digital products in Nepal (either for local market or international market).
The company must have more than one founding member.
The company must be a registered entity in Nepal.
The company must have been in operation for 2 years.
The company must have conducted transactions and demonstrated traction (e.g., user base, revenue).
The company is willing to share audited financial statements for the last one year or more.
The founding team members of the company should be 18 years or above. The company should have a committed and skilled team with relevant expertise in digital technology and business development with access to expertise in agriculture sector.
The company should provide access to their product/service and demonstrate them if selected.
As per the SDC PSE Handbook, businesses from the following sectors, namely; precious gemstones, cotton goods, weapons, armaments, munitions, and their components and alcoholic beverages are not eligible for application.
1. What type of companies are eligible for the program?
Only agri digi-tech companies are eligible for the participation.
2. What does agri digi-tech company mean?
We are looking for a Nepali agri digi-tech companies, agri-tech SMEs, strategic business units (SBUs) embedded within large conglomerates or start-ups that leverage digital technology and innovation to enhance agricultural efficiency, productivity, logistics, value chain and sustainability. This also covers advisory platforms, agri-insurance, e-marketplace, financing, warehousing, transportation and others.
3. Are there any specific age requirements to be eligible for participation in the program?
The minimum age of the founder of the company should be at least 18 years and above.
4. How long is the program?
The program is divided into two phases:
Phase 1 : Selected companies will undergo a four-month acceleration program.
Phase 2 : Shortlisted companies after phase 1 would get additional mentoring while one company has the potential to receive investment.
5. Can a company registered outside Nepal participate in the program?
No, only companies registered in Nepal are eligible for participation.
6. What documents do I need to submit along with the application?
You need to submit a copy of your company registration and resume of primary founders of the company.
7. Do I need to share my company’s financial statements?
Financial statement need not to be shared during the application phase however, the company must share the audited financial statements during the selection phase.
8. Do I need to mention any investments received by the company?
Yes.
9. Do I need to disclose the number of customers/clients we have worked with?
Yes.
10. Do I need to share company’s participation in any incubator/accelerator/pitching programs in the past?
Yes. Also mention If you have received any prizes, grants, investments or technical assistance.
11. How will we know if we are selected for the program or not?
The applications will be reviewed by the jury. The results will be communicated via email.
12. Does the program accept application from companies outside Kathmandu?
Yes, this program is open for Nepali companies across Nepal.
13. Can a company submit more than one application?
One application per company is acceptable. In case more than one application is submitted by an applicant in a given submissions window, the latest application will be considered.
